Michel has 31 years of experience in the financial services industry, 29 of which were acquired at National Bank of Canada. He joined National Bank in 1986 as a portfolio manager in its full-service brokerage subsidiary, National Bank Financial, where he spent 22 years heading up the department in charge of discretionary asset management. Under his leadership, he was responsible for creating and managing various investment solutions and “Basket” portfolios that were distributed across National Bank Financial’s network, including an innovative ETF-only multiple-asset class product launched back in 2005. In 2008, Michel was named Chief Investment Officer of Natcan Investment Management. Following Fiera Capital’s acquisition of Natcan several years later, Michel returned to National Bank’s Wealth Management division in the position of President and CEO of National Bank Trust and National Bank Investments (both wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Bank). From then until his departure in 2014, Michel was in charge of National Bank’s entire suite of investment solutions.
Michel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and an MBA from McGill University, and is also a CFA charterholder.
Ralph counts more than 25 years of experience in financial markets. After spending several years employed by J.P. Morgan in the North American financial capitals of New York and Toronto, Ralph gained valuable international experience in Europe while working at Honeywell and studying at INSEAD from 1990 through 1995. In 1995, Ralph returned to Montreal and began his career at National Bank, where for many years he worked closely with Michel as a Portfolio Manager in National Bank Financial’s Portfolio Management department (1998 – 2009). In addition to managing assets for individual and institutional clients, Ralph was also instrumental in integrating ETFs into National Bank Financial’s investment solutions. Finally, from 2009 through 2014, Ralph was the Senior Portfolio Manager for National Bank’s high-net-worth division - Private Wealth 1859.
Ralph has a Bachelor’s degree in History from Harvard University and an MBA from INSEAD. Like Michel, he is also a CFA charterholder.
Josée has close to 30 years of experience working in the investment world with portfolio managers and investment advisors. Over the course of her career, she has acted as an associate investment advisor, financial analyst, as well as the coordinator of various strategic projects. For more than 20 years, Josée provided extensive support to the portfolio management teams at both National Bank Financial and Natcan Investment Management. As the senior assistant to portfolio managers and as an analyst, she has acquired a varied and detailed knowledge of the portfolio management industry.
Josée has successfully completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC), along with the Options Licencing Course of the Canadian Securities Institute.
